Imma try and do 6:45 pace for a 26.2 on Sunday

I had a good 52mi cycle today. I love cycling.

I use to play basketball , and I could dunk. But then playing I dunked on this guy came down landed on him and hurt my knee because his body got in the way of my landing.

So now I have almost recovered but little afraid to play again as too much risk of injury.

In highschool I played baseball and football but you can't really play football as an adult (flag sucks) and adult league baseball is mostly a bunch of washed up DII tools who take it too seriously.

So, I golf and play rec league soccer. Both are a blast and allow me to compete, which is the most fun thing. Got my bench back up above 300 too recently, which I'm proud of.

Swimming is a low prestige sport. Take that from someone who's currently swimming in college. Take up a sport like tennis, soccer, or lacrosse, all of which put you in the highest tier.

since when is soccer a high prestige sport? Sure, the pros in europe get paid a ton but that's no different than basketball or baseball in the US. I'd think squash, tennis, lacrosse, and polo would be "prestigious" sports if that's what you care about.

Last week I ran 46.8mi at 6:20 pace. 20% of that is 800s. Monday - cycled 62mi. Started tapering Tuesday for a Sunday 26.2. Just did jump rope + core mainly yesterday and will probably continue this through the week.

Next week, I'm going to try to jump back into Muay Thai while I train for my 'A' race of the year, Augusta Half Iron 70.3 in Sept 2020. I'm trying to get a slot to Utah 2021 70.3 WC. My PR is 4:48 in Augusta with the goal this year of 4:25. Hopefully that will be fast enough to earn a slot!

My 26.2 was just cancelled for this weekend - because of the Coronavirus.

I tapered for 2 days and watch said ‘peaking’ and was feeling good and injury free - damn. It would have been a good 26.2.

Well, at least I’m a bit faster now than when I started.

Look at jiu jitsu. could be a compliment to your boxing background. great workout and opportunities to compete if you're interested in it

This looks like a lot of fun. I picked football over hockey in high school (my high school was good at football but nationally ranked for hockey, kids from my class made the NHL) for my contact sport but I always wish i knew how to skate well enough to play in a semi competitive league.

Powerlifting, even though it isn't safe to constantly be pushing absolute 1rm there are a lot of other ways you can constantly track progress. Strength at various body weights, rep maxes, lift variations (high bar squat, font squat, DL grip variations, bench width variations), and tracking your accessory lifts as well. Also you can easily compare yourself against people all over the world.

but are you lean bro? definition is where it’s at

Check out this:

Ski diving.

It's a real sport and according to my Polish buddy, it's their national sport.

Yeah it’s mostly play to me. I don’t heavy spar much anymore and I only really fear two things: - getting my filling on my front tooth knocked off because my dentist will be pissed and it’s $400 - unexpected hooks: I only had one real bad unexpected hook from a newbie but he caught me good when we were light sparring and that shit really hurt that night, I couldn’t chew, my ears hurt like hell and I was restricted to smoothies and oatmeal for a week or more. I can’t imagine what a broken jaw feels like fuck - experiences like these greatly improve my blocking skills though, no doubt. The brain will not tolerate that shit again and you just develop super good defense. I also fear the rhinoplasty, but getting a hard face smash doesn’t happen to me that often. If they get a hit, it’s like 20% impact because I basically got away.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Some of my gym friends and I do technical sparring some nights at Gleason's depending on everyone's schedule. We focus more on technique - hence if we are able to get it going again after this crisis, please feel free to join us.

Also, belated Happy Easter!
