What to do this summer? Looking for advice...
Hi,
I'm in an interesting situation right now and I'm not 100% sure as to how to proceed to best position myself for recruiting next fall. To clear some things up, my end goal is trading, NOT IB.
I graduated from a non-target a few weeks ago and will be doing a MSF at a target next year. I've got a few internships on my resume, and I finished a SA stint last year at a MM bank.
However, now I'm just waking up early everyday and going to work (I'm a cook), partying my ass off while I wait for my masters program to start. I've thought about getting an internship this summer but most of them are PWM and I don't know if that would actually boost my resume in any tangible way given that I already did internships w/ a PE group and Investment bank.
Currently, I'm studying some of the products I like to trade more in depth (options) and I'm also teaching myself how to code in a couple simple languages since I don't have a Comp Sci background. However, I still worry that employees will look down upon the fact that I didn't really have a finance related internship this summer and this may hinder my chances of landing a trading gig come next fall.
Can any of you offer advice as to what I could be doing to best position myself for recruiting? Will the fact that I didn't have an internship this summer negativity impact me come recruiting season?
One last note....if any of you work in trading and you need a reliable assistant who will work for free, I'm your man.
thanks
for the TL;DR crowd...

What should I do to best position myself come recruiting season? Will not having an internship this summer negatively impact me?
Learn more programming. Look at some of the courses on itunes U by MIT, Stanford, etc...
