What's your method of exploring a new city?

Wanted to know how you guys explore a city that you've never been to before.

I'm in Vegas right now, having fun. Yes, there's casinos and gambling, but I don't like to fall into the typical tourist traps.

I'm trying my best to live like a local by going places like Red Rock and walking around downtown. I also set up a couple things with locals just searching for events on Facebook, Reddit, and TripAdvisor. Looking forward to the next couple of days!

Waiting to hear your thoughts, especially from those seasoned travelers.

Sometimes the typical tourist traps are why people visit a city. Anything other than that just hang out with people from the area or read restaurant guides online.
