When can I start smoking green?
If you’re not a stoner/enjoy toning every once in a while please leave your judgement at the door. I don’t care if weed makes you feel stupider or whatever, it’s my vice and it’s staying that way
I know weed is looked down upon by business people, from a client perspective or just generally it’s more of a lower rung drug for whatever reason. I have a few main questions (all for banking in California):
1) Just landed a 2021 Summer gig at a top BB . I understand things are complicated due to covid but generally what is time line for drug testing? Immediately when the background checks starts? A week before the first day? How much warning do you get? (I haven’t smoked since March 2020 because I did it socially, but I’d like to know for FT too).
2) Once you’re in, say got the FT offer..do you get tested again? Once on the job, how often are drug tests for marijuana specifically? Is it multiple times a year or just not at all?
3) Those who smoke and work, have you found any other bankers who indulge? Or is it something you keep to yourself entirely because of the negative stigma around it?
4) How do you manage productivity with weed? Do you find yourself using it more socially or more for anxiety/stress related reasons? Any input from bankers currently with this vice is PREFERRED.

Be careful - there are drinks you can take to beat the test (can get at head shops or online). Or there is fake piss that you can buy. Or you can find out when the test is and abstain for 31+ days.
I don't personally believe THC should be illegal to a company's employees. What they do on their own time is their business as long as its not stealing, assaulting, rioting, making rukus etc.
Think about how less the rioting would be now if all states legalized THC. The state tax revenues would be up and people would be super chill. We just need people to chill right now and be happy with each others and the government.

Yeah I don’t really have a problem abstaining, it’s more about notification window to get the test done and if I should get used to abstaining for periods of time while on the job FT. I agree with you that life would be much similar if weed was legalized, the government would make a shit ton in taxes, tons of businesses could thrive on it, just add some age stipulations like we do with alcohol and cigarettes.
I’ll digress on why I think weed specifically is demonized, but it would be nice to run into other finance people I can share a night cap joint with on a weekend out or something.
If you're in NYC a lot of other people 420 there. I've met a lot in the industry who smoke, but keep it on the DL and just among friends and don't talk about it at work unless you're bros.
Don’t know about most people, but I smoked a decent amount while in college but have found that I simply don’t have the time anymore. Often just want to go to bed once I get home and if I smoke, afraid I’ll oversleep for the next day. Have thought about smoking maybe once on the weekend every now and then but fear that terrifying urgent work email as I’m helpless in excel when baked.
I have a feeling I may grow out of it as well so I appreciate the insight! It’s been such a big part of my personality for some time now so I’m nervous about leaving it behind. Guess that comes with maturity/professionalism
