When to look for summer accommodation?

I need to find SA accommodation in Manhattan (preferably in Midtown) - I'd prefer to sublet a reasonably priced apartment with friends because I'll probably need to stay an extra week or two (I live too far away to go home twice during the summer), but most of my friends won't find out about internships for another month. I'm also happy to live in NYU dorms but they aren't my first preference. Would it be too late to look for accommodation in late February? I've heard most of the NYU housing fills up pretty fast (and I would definitely take NYU housing above a bad apartment).

First, it's really easy to find a decent cheap sublet in NYC. I started looking in May before SA and found one in a week. My friends started in April and also found decent deals.

NYU dorms are absolute shit. They have no air conditioning, are noisy as fuck, and are overall expensive for the awful accommodation they provide.

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat, that's a fact.
