Been living in NYC for a while now, and I find myself going out in the same bars in the LES, and it is always a sausage fest. There are more women than men in NY, so where do they hang out? I know meatpacking artificially helps the ratio, but I don't want to hang out with a bunch of Europeans and I'm tired of the club scene. I like talking to girls not grinding up on strangers in loud clubs where I can't hear anyone. Is Brooklyn the way to go? I imagine if finance/consulting is a sausage fest and Manhattan rent is getting absurdly expensive, the media/fashion/non profit girls who don't get paid as well on average start moving out of Manhattan.

I do think NYC is overrated when it comes to girls and dating, but having said that you need to branch out. Check out soho, west village, greenwich village, murray hill, gramercy. There are tons of places. Also try online dating such as match, okcupid, coffee meets bagel, tinder.
Depends on when you're going out. The hot marketing/PR chicks have after-work parties and product launches and events they have to attend :P
Also, GL finding girls not from the club scene. Meeting random girls is a lot easier when you're drunk and dancing. If you want intellectuals there's gonna be a higher barrier to entry :P

LES has turned to shit, so attractive women don't go there anymore. It's all dirty brooklynites and bridge and tunnel trash. It's the summer, so women will be at the roof top bars (dream hotel, ink, 235th, ganesvoort, etc).
As a whole, women don't go to dive bars as much as men. But women tend to go out MORE than men - they just go to better places than LES, and no it's not all meat-packing/clubs.

I've been in nyc 7 years and no one who has lived here for more than 3 months goes to 230 5th unless they are bringing out of towners around. I'm not looking for one night stands here, looking for a girl who I would actually date.
