Where should I stay this summer?

The firm I'm interning at announced their SA program is 100% virtual. I'm still getting a sign on for relocation purposes. Any nice/fun places I should move to for the summer?

If I had the chance I would do:

preliminary route

if you like New England I'd add providence or something like Martha's Vineyard.

the second leg of the journey is a bit long (400+mls); you can obviously adjust any part of it and this was just an idea. I have done my first road trip at 17 and after more than 11 years I have driven on 4 continents and been through approx. 45 countries.

Encinitas, CA

Miami, and the rest of the south will be hot as hell and humid during the summer. Also hurricane season for Miami. My picks:

Chicago

San Diego

Staying on the Cape or Martha's Vineyard is going to be expensive (and who the fuck wants to live on MV as a college kid? It's mostly for families and older adults), but you can find something much cheaper outside the major areas but close enough that a weekend drive to the beach isn't going to be more than two hours. People are shitting on Providence, but it's a pretty cool city. Lots of great restaurants since Johnson and Wales, an acclaimed hospitality/culinary school in Providence, is here and there is an appetite for it. Plus Brown and RISD means there is lots of cultural stuff, concerts, museums, etc.

I grew up in Boston, so I may be a bit partial on this front, but I always found the allure of Newport, RI as a nice treat during summertime. When I was young, my family and I would go there just about every other summer; we'd always go to the beach, then head to the town itself, which has a very nice feel to it. Otherwise, I went to Florida a couple of times, and I enjoyed both trips; once to Miami, the other to Orlando on a family vacation. Either way, that's my two cents. Hope you find something nice!

Nashville if on the East Coast

San Diego if on the West Coast -- go surfing every day (join a surf camp), skateboard, eat acai bowls (and partake in other types of bowls), just chill.

Be excellent to each other, and party on, dudes.

I'd do west coast regardless. would rather have mediterranean climate than suffocating humidity (side note - Atlanta and Charlotte are far more uncomfortable than Miami in the summer, Miami has average lower high temps and lower extremes in those months believe it or not). plus if you're sleep deprived, what's the difference between working 6a-10p and 9a-1a?

if you MUST be ET, I'd do the first half of your SA in Miami, get tan, get laid, learn some spanish, go to chicago in time for J4, and then finish in boston. I have a feeling those cities are about to have the best summers ever after lockdowns and a horrific winter, and I don't believe they have the same issues NYC will with coming back.
