Where the car guys at? - Best custom shop for G-Class?

I want to have some customization and tuning done and am thinking either Brabus or Mansory. Are there other lesser known shops worth checking out?

This isn't meant to be the ultimate high performance build (though I do care what's under the hood), I'm more focused on the QOL enhancements and variety of aesthetic options that make it unique/maximize comfort for a daily driver.

Here are some shops to help you get your search going or at least figure out what you like. I‘m German so haven’t checked for US availability tbh.

  • Hofele (I remember they put suicide doors on a G class once)
  • German Classic Design
  • Lorinser
  • Hamann Design
  • Carlex Design (they do some weird stuff imo but maybe you like it, who knows)

I’d say check these out if you care less about overcompensating and more about how nice the car itself is. Then again it’s a G class, there’s no saving it ;)

Also Brabus emphasizes performance over aesthetics so if you do end up deciding between them and Mansory, keep in mind what you want to pay for

Helpful references, thank you

These are exquisite!

I'm glad that someone here mentioned Lorinser and Hamann. I can tell that you're truly German since so many Americans, outside of devoted auto fanatics, don't know those ones. I think Lorinser is a little more famous here, but still.

I know it has military roots, but every single person I see driving one is a housewife. I think there are four used as mom mobiles in my neighborhood alone.

That car is notoriously really bad in off-road terrains (even though it's built for that). Wasting $300k on a soccer mom / pretend-Emirati car is so funny. You can buy the new 4-door Defender for $80k and that is objectively a much better car which you can also tune. Hell, you can even buy a Lambo Urus or a Rolls-Royce for that $300k.

Just do an old Jeep with the AMC straight 6 if you want off road skill. 4 liters of torque and legit 4 wheel drive.

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
