Where To Live - Summer BB IB Analyst
Hi all,
I will be an ib intern at Barclays next summer (2019) and I am currently looking for apartments to live in for the summer. A friend from school and I are looking to room together (so, 2BRs only.) We've been looking at some Hell's Kitchen rentals - we've found some apartments that are $2,500 per month, and they're only a 10-15 min walk to the office. I think it's worth paying an extra ~1,000 (or 500 per person) a month to save like an hour a day in travel time compared to living in Brooklyn which also involves the inconvenience of using the subway.
When is the best time / what's the best method in securing an apartment? Is it worth paying more to live in Manhattan? A lot of the rental apartments have year long leases, so we were thinking of subleasing the a year long contract for 9 months. Is that a good idea?
