White House blocks news organisations from press briefing

Trying to get some fresh perspective on this. Most of my friends are very left-leaning, and there (perhaps unsurprisingly) hasn't seemed to be much reporting in favour of the press ban. The banned organisations + some other notable media organisations (A.P.; Time) were obviously lambasting the ban, and even RT's article on it seems to cast the ban in a somewhat negative light. Right-leaning organisations seem to have limited coverage.
I know there are some hardcore and some less-hardcore Trump supporters on this website - certainly far more than average. So... what's the deal here? Is there something I'm not seeing? I consider myself centrist (though left-leaning for social reasons), and can get how some of the Trump administration's choices have made sense, but I need some serious help understanding this one.
It was a powwow, not a full fledged briefing.
Personally, I support removing CNN and The other leftist propaganda sources from all whitehouse events. Stop all admistration people from appearing on air on those channels as well.
CNN can report what they want. Their speech is not infringed. But when they disrupt and manipulate the news in an antagonistic and seditious manner they should be removed from the equation.
Besides. The daily show and Mad isn't present. Why should CNN be.
YOU ARE BRAINWASHED, MAKES ME SICK
edit: this comment is more a reflection of my opinion of all the comments i've seen you make regarding Trump, not necessarily this one.
In all seriousness, you are more of an attention whore than Milo. You have some serious issues concerning the levels you will go to to defend this "administration"
Thanks. Made me really think.
Milo is a pervert , but cool, he's obviously the Trump spokes person.
You know, I lay in bed at night and just wish I was a traditional conservative. You know, hating gays, wanting a smalller government (lol jk, bigger military and intrusion in your personal lives) and being an utter sell out.
Your post is garbage and you know it. I'm not defending trump, I'm setting the record straight. He's a liberal democrat that won office. How about you substantiate your opinion.
Additionally, this is Trump trying to smoke out the leaks. He just needs to make every White House communication top secret and the. Any leak can be hunted down as national security. This is obama holdovers trying to subvert democracy.
How is a "powwow" with conservative media outlets going to smoke out leaks?
That's not how the classification process works, Top Secret material is given that classification because it would "cause exceptionally grave damage to national security."
The man should, in your opinion, ban the press, continue to favor favorable media outlets (propaganda), arbitrarily hike classification on ALL communications and directives in order to not only avoid all public scrutiny but in your view have the heightened ability to go after whistleblowers.
And you're seriously saying the opposition to that is subverting democracy???
You've gone off the deep end.
This is a certifiable statement.
I love the cozy and folksy it's just a "powwow" with regards to Trump and the immediate subverting democracy conspiracy labeled on anyone who isn't outright favorable of Trump. Speaks volumes about your state of mind.
As always, you don't know what you are talking about. From the propaganda ministry itself:
http://money.cnn.com/2017/02/24/media/cnn-blocked-white-house-gaggle/in…
"The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico and BuzzFeed were also among those excluded from the meeting, which was held in White House press secretary Sean Spicer's office. The meeting, which is known as a gaggle, was held in lieu of the daily televised Q-and-A session in the White House briefing room."
It's a "gaggle". And your utter bias speaking volumes about you.
1) The freedom of the press was not infringed.
2) Not every "news" agencies can attend these things.
3) Not attending =/= infringement on the press
4) The agencies not allowed are not real news. Sorry. CNN was in collusion with the HRC campaign. The NYTimes writes biased and outright false pieces on this administration. They have no business there. If you watch a press briefing, it is nothing but these howler monkey's yelling at Spicer the same "Russia this" and "Russia that" over and over again.
Bravo to them for punishing these advertising agencies. They have no business calling themselves news reporters and they don't even need to be there. Just run the same 5 lies on repeat and call it a day. That is all they ever do.
Lmao but Breitbart, who was allowed, is real news? C'mon dude enough. He's mad at CNN for reporting that preibus contacted FBI, NYT last week reported on Trump's admin having communication with Russia, and BuzzFeed reported that dossier thing. It's a vendetta plain and simple. If CNNs "fake news" were more favorable to Trump they'd have been in that "pow wow". It has zero to do with credibility and we all know that.
Now it's a propaganda ministry? Lol. You still haven't answered my questions above.
If you're going to pick favorites and try to discredit CNN, then you also have to justify Breitbarts presence and back their "articles" because logically, if it's about fake news, lies and not political bias.... then you must defend breitbart. Is that really a proposition you're comfortable with?
You're insane.
The butthurt from CNN is strong. Maybe if they went back to their philosophy of being a credible news network (pre-9/11) then they'd earn more respect. They basically sold themselves out in order to be the firm equivalent to Fox News.
News organizations should not be political and stick to reporting the news. They are COMPLETELY losing their credibility (newspaper, Television, etc) because they (I'm assuming) are trying to appeal to whatever support base will earn them the most viewers (left, right, etc whatever).
This isn't about credibility, period. I'll say it again, this isn't about credibility. You know it, I know it, let's not try and deceive ourselves. Thanks
So you are cool with supposed news agencies basing endless reports on "unnamed" sources.
You do realize the danger with this. They could (are) be making this "source" completely up.
The lack of Woke in this thread is sad.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/12/business/media/12fox.html?mtrref=t.co
"Attacking the news media is a time-honored White House tactic but to an unusual degree, the Obama administration has narrowed its sights to one specific organization, the Fox News Channel, calling it, in essence, part of the political opposition."
Attacking the news media a time-HONORED White House tactic (I guess only honored when Obama does it)
"“We’re going to treat them the way we would treat an opponent,” said Anita Dunn, the White House communications director, in a telephone interview on Sunday. “As they are undertaking a war against Barack Obama and the White House, we don’t need to pretend that this is the way that legitimate news organizations behave.”"
Treat them like an opponent
Undertaking a war against Obama
Legitimate news
What a fucking joke. The hyperbole whenever Trump does something is laughable. People are "literally shaking" I am sure.
I was looking forward to this thread.
