Who actually uses streaming services?

Can someone explain to me why people spend money on Netflix and all these other trash services when there are streaming sites that literally upload movies/shows in HD quality and now with movies being released online the same day it releases in theaters, I can watch HD quality stuff on my laptop the same day it releases without needing to pay for any services. Plus, all these services have catalogs that aren't even close to these streaming services.

P.S. - before you come at me for "not supporting artists," i have been to the theaters for mainly Hans Zimmer movies since its actually worth the money for the experiance but other than that I'd never pay for content.

It's like $7 or something... Plus you're paying for the platform/interface as well as the content. I'd much rather pull up Netflix on my TV than have to stream from my computer through some pop-up ridden website.

Convenience, originals, not wanting to deal with sketchy websites, integration with smart TVs, and frankly the money just isn’t that relevant - we probably pay $50/mo altogether for our various streaming platforms, split two ways, and $300 a year is an easy price to pay for my lazy ass to not have to worry about it. It it helps the content producer as well, even better

I use Amazon Prime Video and Netflix and consider them to be very reasonably priced.

Is this some sort of hacker brag

This is the real answer right here. One of my coworkers once had some people over for a movie night and her boyfriend was streaming the movie from a sketchy website. The movie ended up pausing like 15 times throughout and he would always get up, refresh the site, close out of the two ads that popped up, and jump back to where we left off.

It was painful, especially considering the movie to rent on Amazon was like $3.99 lol. It would be 10x worse if it was a date...

The unofficial websites or add-ons don't always offer HD streaming, they also don't guarantee availability of server slots during peak times.
It is pretty easy finding legal ways to obtain streaming services, when I bought a new iPhone I received 12 free months of Apple+ content.

And who would use these things on a website anyway, that's what TV boxes are for.

yeah I just stream online. there's a reddit thread with 100s of streaming sites. movies, tv, live sports etc.

it's much easier for me. it removes the hassle of switching the tv on, firing up the platform, searching, and the need to scroll through a lot of garbage (sometimes).

I'm usually on my laptop anyway, and in fact if I look to the left of my screen right there I have a list of movie streams.

also you can get programmes that aren't available in your country yet.

How does supporting one German dude's films rectify stealing all other content? Anyway, I just like to use streaming services so I can avoid sketchy websites, feel better from an ethical standpoint, and because I find the services make it easier to track where I am in a series. Not to mention, as long as you do not feel the need to have every single service at once, the cost is not that high. I pay less than $20 all in, use the services to reasonable extent, and move on to others. That way I only have 2-3 services at a time, which saves money and also takes away FOMO on any sort of new content.

I’m a fun guy. Obviously I love the game of basketball. I mean there’s more questions you have to ask me in order for me to tell you about myself. I'm not just gonna give you a whole spill... I mean, I don't even know where you're sitting at

Pre-pandemic, I regularly paid more at bars in one night than I pay for streaming services all year. I don't need to visit sketchy sites to watch a movie for free
