I do not think I have a lot to offer this community but just wanted to say this one thing as I have learnt this the hard way: In life never suppress your personality. Always stay true to who you are at the core. If you don't do this it leads to anxiety, depression, insecurity, mental illness etc.. I wanted to say this as society hates peoples who are comfortable in their own skin and deviate from the middle. Society wants people who are fake and manufactured.
Never apologise for who you are. If you are extremely competitive, ambitious, driven and have a desire to conquer or dominate, totally own it. Likewise if you are timid, shy, passive, totally own that shit. Don't think of them as personality traits and don't label them. Think of yourself as a complete being that is these things.
If you feel you have "bad" parts in your personality, it is better to let that shit come up and be aware of it. If you suppress it, it will fuck your life up in ways you can not imagine. It will lead you down roads you never wanted to go down or never knew existed. You will end up doing things you never ever would do. Awareness lets you mitigate them and make a conscious decision to not do them. By suppressing things, you are being controlled by those "bad" parts and slipping down towards those "bad" things.
Not sure if this will resonate with anyone but I just realised this and wanted to ensure no one else makes the same mistake I did.
