Why are 99% of the FT comments written from literal NPC's

NPC = Non playable character

Not sure how many of you read the Financial Times comments but they're literally written as if it's NPC's from GTA writing them.

They're all bleeding liberals using the same slogans over and over again. It's so weird.

Easy answer, troll farms for hire. Based on your notes, most likely ESL speakers so foreigners paid a pittance by our standards but steady easy liveable wages for them. It's a smart model really. Low cost, high productivity, they have no interest in the interests they're trolling for.

Or maybe our scholastic environment really has degraded that badly after all here at home.

I have a theory that most people (c.90%) in general are NPCs. Not in an actual sense just philosophically. Sure they're alive, you can have a nice convo with them and they have feelings but thats about it, they're mind doesn't go that much deeper. I look around and I see people grinding for money then having nothing to spend it on. Not just in this profession but in the art world as well. They make all this money to just try and make more money plus they live really mundane lives. Then sit at home and do nothing when they're not working.

At least if they did all that to spend time doing something else they really love it would be understood, i am in banking to make money so I can invest more in my artistic career, which I would do if money wasn't an object. These people go on to marry and have kids and also don't know why, they're just doing it.

I'm a liberal (same type of liberal as Joe Rogan) and some things I hear people say is just pre programmed drivel. A group of NYC liberals recently told me and a few friends we must be homophobic because we would not have sex with a man to see if we liked it. Like they just wanted to say something so outlandish to get a reaction out of us because they know most people even a lot of hard core right wingers will say that they are tolerant of peoples lifestyles so long as it doesn't affect their own.

People are becoming so woke because they have nothing else to do. If you don't know its now a trend to call someone a pedophile if they don't want to date women with facial hair because hairless women are like children. This is an actual damnation by the way not a friendly burn, I have seen people gossip behind a guys back because he chose to argue against this in public and some girls wanted to report him to the police while other guys egged them on. All because he said he did not like hairy girls.

Thats just on politics, I see so many other behaviors that just make me think there isn't a real thought that has ever passed through that persons head and funny enough when I meet someone that isn't an NPC we instantly hit it off irregardless of our backgrounds and beliefs but its so rare both in NYC and outside to find someone who is actually alive.

People say calling someone an NPC is bad because you're denying their humanity on some level but anytime I find myself kinda agreeing, I go outside and interact with people and I am always certain after that yeah NPCs are out there and that is why a lot of people's comments on here seem like they're from NPC's.

If you ask any of them why they want to exit to PE or a HF they'll say because everyone is doing it, then they go to those establishments and start looking for the next popular exit. I have seen people come on this forum and ask for exit opps from Citadel and other MFs and prior posts were asking for exit opps for banking.

They are not making decisions on their lives they're just existing and waiting for someone to tell them what to do and I think its because they barely exist mentally. If enough people told them working at a gas station was an exit opp they'll start lining up and sending CV's.

Yeah I think this is because of a number of factors, but one in particular is the IQ inequality in the world. I think a lot of the differences in behaviour can be attributed to people's IQ. The people that spew out regurgitated "woke" ideas as if it's fact are usually lacking in cognitive function and critical thinking. From my personal experience, this has been the most obvious variable to explain the behaviour you describe - although unfortunately even intelligent people can be manipulated/brain washed of course.

Respectfully OP, hard disagree on the FT comments (though I agree it does seem on many other sites like the comments sections are full of mindless NPCs, eg NYT/Washington Post).

As an FT subscriber, in my personal view I actually really enjoy the comments - maybe because I’m relatively “centrist” which also seems to be the case for the majority of FT commenters. Eg they will frequently call out woke virtue signalling on race, gender, ESG etc (whenever an article on the former two is published the FT in fact usually disables comments to avoid offending anyone who doesn’t like “critical race theory” etc being questioned, which is a bit ridiculous I think but whatever).

Equally FT readers generally dislike Trump and Boris Johnson, whilst recognising people like AOC or Jeremy Corbyn are nuts and would be much worse. Biden is also held in pretty poor regard.

Now contrast that to WaPo or NYT - the comments there are basically just an enormous Reddit-like echo chamber. They will shoehorn in references to/attacks on Trump into every article’s comments section even if it has nothing to do with him or politics. Equally when Andrew Cuomo was accused of sexual misconduct, they were all defending him and saying “we have to wait for due process” and “this is nothing compared to the evil Republicans.” Just always makes me angry reading it.

So yeah whilst I guess we disagree, personally I think the FT comments are actually quite good/well reasoned. WSJ not so much - whilst I certainly prefer WSJ comments to the mindless wokeism on NYT/WaPo, a lot of comments are also a bit too much of the mindset “all Democrats are evil” which isn’t much better than the mindless anti-Trump/GOP echo chamber on the other side.
