Why billionaire Ken Griffin is moving Citadel's HQ to Miami from Chicago: riots, an employee stabbed, and the attempted hijacking of his own car
https://www.businessinsider.com/ken-griffin-citad…
"It's becoming ever more difficult to have this as our global headquarters, a city which has so much violence," he said last October at the Economic Club of Chicago. "I mean Chicago's like Afghanistan on a good day and that's a problem."
I'm sure the riots and crime uptick in Chiraq is part of it. I'd also guess it's partly because of Florida's favorable property laws in the event of bankruptcy, same reason OJ moved. Marge is calling.
He's moving because he has beef with the governor of Illinois and has for a while. The crime rates in Chicago are nearly indiscernible from those in Miami:

But I understand facts mean absolutely nothing on WSO as this is another political post. Carry on.
Anyone who thinks Chicago is the same as Miami is a clown
Lol Chicago has a homicide rate over 2x that of Miami, 28 per 100k to 12 per 100k

Homicides are a tiny portion of overall crime. My post was regarding overall crime. These individuals are much more likely to be victims of property crime/robbery than they are murders, they aren't gang members. With that said, thanks for presenting data rather than taking the childish route of the poster above you.
You’re a clown
Tracking non-homicide crime across municipalities is notoriously difficult and is usually pointless. There’s too many variables in how people report crimes, how police respond to them, how they get categorized, etc. for them to be useful.
Homicide is by far the most useful stat for measuring violent crime rates. They’re significantly likelier to be reported and categorized accurately.
Good on Griffin. I think the only thing that will get through to these politicians in places like Chicago is mass big business exodus. Would love to see more of it
Tough couple weeks for Chicago. Boeing, Caterpillar, and CItadel all announced they are leaving. Part of Kellogg's is locating to the city though.
I'm glad I don't live in Chicago anymore.

Is this really a website entirely focused on murders in Chicago? With infographics and t-shirts for sale?
This is weird stuff.
What’s weird is acting like Chicago isn’t a violent, crime-infested shithole of a city
Gee, if it wasn't so bad then why would anyone feel like making a website like that? Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
