Why do you personally choose to help students?

Just out of curiosity, at BBs/EBs the WLB isn't the best, so why do you take the time to help out students instead of for example spending it on your loved ones? What do you gain from this?

I have a lot of respect for those who help students, no matter the motivations (exceptions apply), but just interested in all the possible, even controversial reasons.

A lot of the time you are in the office anyway but have some downtime. It's just a nice feeling helping out someone trying to get started knowing that you were once in their position.
