Will it look bad on you if your neighbor suddenly starts cursing loudly during your phone interview?

If your interviewer can’t see what’s happening (given it is a phone interview), and your interviewer can clearly hear your neighbor slamming things and cursing loudly, will you be viewed negatively as a job candidate?

You should do everything in your power to control your environment during an interview. Since it's a phone interview you can pretty much go anywhere that's not loud (coffee shops, library, tell your roommates you have an interview, classroom building, etc.)

Even if they don't ding you directly it could be harder to understand your answers or interrupt up the flow of the interview / conversation which could lower your chances at moving forward in the process.

if it's a roommate you obviously know the person good enough to live with them and if they can't be quite for 30 minutes for you they aren't a good friend. If it's a next door neighbour who you obviously do not know you can just inform the interviewer that you next door neighbour is the one making the noise as that is not a reflection on you and who you are.
