Will WSO ever be more than a Forum?

I genuinely believe WSO has a lot of potential to offer more than what it is offering now considering the quality of the community here. I someday would love to see WSO become more like Discord (which is for gamers), Clubhouse but for people working in investment banking. Let me know your thoughts on this.

There are several finance related and career channels on Discord already, you can join them if you like?

Is there a need for WSO to start a chat group? Looking at various telegram and Whatsapp groups out there... I don't think so. Look into the chat groups and see whether you like it or not?

We built several discord channels with a WSO user base, it never took off. Everyone is on their Whatsapp and Telegram channels.
If you don't like them, it's the same people as here. The format of "chat" dilutes quality quite a bit and don't expect everyone to be social or friendly on WSO. I have met many who aren't. Finance chat channels are the ones that bring out the anti-social side in young incel boys.

They post jobs, have discussions, generate content, and are a great resource for learning. Why can't it just be a great forum? Why does everything have to progress into an "everything app" or be like other more mass appeal platforms?

It already is more than a forum. Yes, you have all of the message boards for IB, PE, HF, S&T, RE, etc., but you have a lot more than that.

WSO has the off-topic, which basically functions as an entertainment social media platform targeted to the finance community. It’s not quite Litquidity, but that niche is already filled anyway.
Patrick sends out a regularly scheduled finance newsletter, so it’s a media company which appeals to an entry-level professional or college student audience. There’s a B2B component too, because I see the bolt-on advertisements for Masterworks and the other financial products too, so it’s basically a B2B media company as well.

There’s the mentorship program with the guaranteed job placement and resume review services. There’s the separate one-off mentorship calls that you can have with a network of literally hundreds of verified and vetted finance professionals across all the industries you could hope for. It even has verified reviews so you can see what other clients thought of them.

There’s the interview guides, the interview reviews database, the job salaries and job review database, all of which are invaluable in giving prospects the intel they need to get the edge in winning and selecting opportunities.

There’s a diversified set of courses which teach on-the-job skills in a very short period of time, from Excel to PowerPoint, to product specific categories.

WSO isn’t just a forum; it’s a diversified forum, social media, B2B media, expert network, Glassdoor and Coursera/Wall Street Prep all combined. Hats off to Patrick and the rest of the team. You didn’t just build a forum. You built a diversified media company in a key finance vertical and really made a place for yourself.

How funny would it be if WSO had a virtual hangout world.

WSO should start selling NFTs of their top posts!!!!

Yup, those of us who have been around for a long time. Know the growth and breadth Patrick has taken the platform. I would say in the last 2-3 years the growth in other services has become a lot seamless.
Only issue I seen a lot of us are busy and when Patrick reaches out for thoughts on a new product etc we lose that email in the pile. Overtime as the forum gets more direct path to full-time career coaches, b2b, people who spend a lot time as mentors and full on grow their brand with it, think the growth could go exponential.
