WPM Typing Speed - Prestigious???

I have seen a lot of WPM bragging recenently on this forum. People will roast on someone that only has ~50 wpm and say gotta get that up a ton to actually do well in the job.

I just took a test and got 47 wpm, feel like it'd be nice to type faster but do not understand why people care so much about it? Could not imagine a scenario where tpying speed once you know how to type with all your fingers is make or break or even matters at all.

Is this the new level of prestige? Not only can you make an LBO model from scratch but can also do it at 110 wpm?

Typing speed isn't about prestige; it's about efficiency. Based on the most helpful WSO content, improving your typing speed can significantly enhance your productivity, especially in high-pressure finance roles. For example, if you're typing at 100+ WPM, you can quickly draft emails, take notes during calls, or input data without losing focus or momentum. It's not about showing off but about saving time and reducing bottlenecks in your workflow.

If you're at 47 WPM, there's room for improvement, but don't stress. Focus on proper typing techniques and consider investing in tools like a mechanical keyboard to make typing more comfortable and efficient. Remember, while speed is helpful, accuracy and quality of work always take precedence.
