Maybe an app thing (I mostly use the app on my phone) but do you guys find success with using the search bar native to WSO?
I find it much better to just look up something on google and then filter by WSO searches, otherwise I can't even find directly relevant posts. Do others do this too or how do you search more effectively?

With the most amount of respect possible, the WSO app is absolute garbage. I'm sure this is something that Pat & the team are working on, so I won't attempt to necessarily shit on it. The search function straight-up doesn't work, half the comments don't load and/or refresh, and links take me out of the app and into Safari. It's just how it is for the time being, if I had to guess I'd say that fixing the app is the secondary priority to getting the website cleaned up. Just a personal take
I think you're on the money with it. I know a lot of people here tend to use the mobile site version instead of the app. I haven't used the search function specifically on the app, but I noticed that the notifications rarely work as intended compared to the site. That being said, having a dedicated app in the first place is great and I'm sure Patrick et co are making a quality product.
EDIT: another thing is that when you're in the forum list of threads and click "1 new" or whatever comments on a thread, it used to automatically jump to the first latest comment, but now just opens at the top of the thread.
Hey, we've finally got an app dev. The app was mostly unmaintained for at least 6 months (previous dev team had to evacuate from their city because it was heavily bombed and couldn't continue the work).
Would be great if you can describe the issues you have with the app (we'd really appreciate the examples), so I can convert that into tasks for the new dev.
Regarding the links opening the safari. Right now the app support only forum links, anything else is considered as an external link (even it can be link to internal non-forum WSO page). Not that much we can do there unless we extend the app to other site sections. However I'll ask our QA to check if forum urls are handled correctly and we'll fix that if they are not.
Do you have any additional details about the non-loading comments? Does it happen in some specific threads or randomly across all topics?
