WSO Weekly Wrap-Up (9/12-9/18)
In case you missed them, here's some of last week's most popular topics:
UG PE Analyst - 2.9 GPA, no internship, non-target
Post By @Middle Market PE"
I feel exceptionally lucky to have landed a buy-side gig (at at PE firm no less) straight out of undergrad with minimal experience, no "prestigious" internships, a horrible GPA, little to no alumni to tap. I would like to throw my story out there as a counter to the conventional structured wisdom on WSO and present an alternative narrative to those aspiring to enter into principal investing and private equity.Since my firm and school are quite small and I'd like to maintain my identity I will be intentionally vague about some details and focus on the meat of my story.
4 Pillars of Motivation
Post By @Mr.BananaB"
Through my struggles and from others, there have been four pillars that are important. Those four pillars are trust, passion, perseverance, and drive. Failure is only temporary, but quitting is forever. Never quit.
How Will You Measure Your Life?
Post By @Alistair-Clark"
My life is like the plot of the movie Benjamin Button -- everything is happening in reverse. I used to have a high-paying job as a management consultant, and now I work a part-time job making way less the money... I turned 28-years-old this year, and despite it looking like I'm having a major quarter-life crisis (...or preparing for a role in 23 Jump Street), all of these changes were made by choice.

Post By @GeoffGoldblum"

- The general maturing and institutionalization of the HF industry
- The opportunity for GP stakes or acquisitions of HFs
Crisis 101: Tech Bubble. Are we in one or..?
Post By @playtheman"
There has never been a better time to start a business (except maybe during the .com boom). With an immense amount of capital flowing into the startups and tech sector, great and valuable ideas have a relatively good shot at securing funding. So, monkeys, what do you guys think? Is there a tech bubble happening and should investors start cashing out before the storm? Or are we in for a smooth ride, looking forward?
Minimizing Time at Airports (Advice / Questions)
Post By @TorontoMonkey1328"
Does anyone have good advice on how to improve work related travel? Specifically minimizing time to get through airport security?
Not drinking alcohol?
Post By @wsouserid"
I'm wondering whether not drinking will hurt me in the world of finance? Office politics, networking, etc. I'm kind of worried about being the awkward guy in the corner with a coke. Any thoughts?
