Its not just him tho, in general almost all of the HS and college freshman/sophomore do the same thing. Then they tend to get offended and bitter about people trying to help them. I just dont understand it, I was reading this site for like 2 years before I started posting and I am always apperciative to the help I get, even I dont agree with it all lol.

Agreed. The young kids now grew up in the era when everyone was a "winner" regardless of where they finish. That coupled with parents who care too much about a child's feelings and not enough about preparing them for reality. These among other things created a mini generation of whiners.
For many of them WSO is the first place where someone doesn't hold their hand and tell them they are special. These kids need a does of reality and statistics. Law of large numbers N(0,1) - they are not unique or special odds are they are close to average in ever aspect.

I face that shit all the time, I have a major hearing loss and people see my hearing aid and they just assume I know sign language and/or I am deaf. This is my genearl response, "I am talking to you am I not? In clear english and not using my hands. Does that answer your questions?" I love how these kids who have like 3.3 gpas think that their life is so hard because they have to network. Now imagine trying to get a 3.5 or so gpa when you cant hear half the shit the teachers say. Now your life might be a little hard, just a little.

I think PC has alot to do with it, but how is it that I am just a few years out of college and when I was graduating high school that if you fucked up you had to take teh blame for it. If you were a tool or a douche you were called out on it. If you were 2nd no one celebrated and gave you a big ass trophy. Its just insane there is going to be an entire wave of people in this world who think its going to be ok not to try and be successful because everyone wins right?
Similar to the posts before, in this country, we have this burning desire to protect children from the reality of the world. We don't cut kids from high school freshman (insert sport here) teams anymore and honestly, we deprive them of learning about disappointment in life at an early age.
When they finally hear the truth after being told the majority of their adolescent lives that they're "so smart", "so intelligent", you can be anything you want to be! crap, they freak out and go into defense mode as they yell and scream about how your reality and experience doesn't exist in their world of "hopes and dreams." In their world, they only want to hear what re-inforces their opinion/expectations/dreams.
Take for instance this whole Investment Banking phenomenon that's gained popularity over the last few years. Yeah, we do pretty well financially. But you know what, when I put on the monkey suit and show back up to my alma mater and look at those bright shiny faces all excited about the prospect of being in the industry. I tell them what they want to hear (i'm guilty of it too): "Yeah, you'll do very well financially. Yeah, we wear Allen Edmonds every day (weekends included)" Yeah, I just sat down with the CFO last week and talked about long term career plans..." Nevermind that I just worked an 80+ hour work week, got fucking reamed by my Director for some bull-shit that he fucked up on and made it my fault, just got a physical and my doc told me to watch my blood pressure although I'm not even 30, and after all that, looked at my fucking paycheck and said is it worth it?
They can't handle the truth dude, they all have to find out on their own. Hard but fair, sad but true.
I think it would do everyone a service to sit kids down and let them know how much cock they will actually have to suck to be succesful in life. I would pay to see the expressions on kids faces.
