Your favorite nap spot
Random question for everyone here. Title is more or less self explanatory: Anyone got a favorite spot in your building that you've used to nap?
I don't ever have an opportunity here (working lunches). However at a previous internship the hours were better and people were generally outside the building for lunch.
This particular office was in a rectangular building and set up with the main corridors in a pattern that looked like two "8"s stacked on top: offices/cubicles around the outside with connecting hallways on the intererior short-sides. One of these hallways was more or less empty with two empty cubicles on one side while the other had a waist-high cutout filled end to end with filing cabinets. These cabinets happened to have some empty space behind/to the sides, and one time after a particularly late night I decided to just grab a snack at my desk and spend the lunch hour crashed out, hidden behind the cabinets.
It was glorious.
At the HF I worked at, there was a separate room with a couch. Enough said...
Handicapped stall on another floor
We have dedicated 'Zen Rooms' with recliners and soothing music. It's nice to grab a power nap when you're working until 11.
I wake up sometimes with a space bar imprint on my forehead. Good times.
Under my MD's desk.
pregnancy / mothers room is og nap spot
I haven't done it (yet), but we have a few Wellness Rooms. They're about 10x6 with a sink, recliner and a few misc items in there. They're essentially for nursing moms, but I've thought about taking a nap in there before. I'll do it sometime when I really need it.
I've heard about those little rooms you can rent at the airport to crash, but I haven't seen one yet.
There's a few in ATL. C-terminal if I remember correctly. Used to connect through there frequently but it's been awhile.
on long-haul flights. nothing beats the knowledge of flying over the north pole / the rainforest 8 miles in the sky. all with a pair of Bose noise-cancelling headphones (no music, just silence). #serenity.
bathroom
Some places have quiet rooms, which from my understanding is used for meditation/worship/rest. Additionally, I remember one time a colleague of mine booked a conference room for an hour to sleep. Certainly a creative way to do so for sure :)
My Car. I park in the building and keep a pillow and blanket for those 4am-6am naps. Had a coworker just expense hotels for a few weeks when a client was being acquired.
I have L4/L5 disc slippage so I have to scope out crash spots around the office for when my back may go out. Empty offices with no windows. Preg room. Etc....
