Advice: Bloomberg vs. Big Four
Hi all! Long story short, I have a degree in physics/chemistry from college and recently decided not to pursue the science path. Just graduated and don't have finance experience. I recently got offers from Bloomberg and a big four firm, here's where I need help:
option 1) data researcher/analyst at bloomberg, temporary job (6 months), decent pay, full benefits, apparently good chances of becoming a permanent job, great culture, minimum 10 hour days, relatively back office position
option 2) graduate program for tax or audit at a big four firm, much lower pay but is a permanent job (full benefits), in general 12+ hour days
I know both are quite different so i'd appreciate some advice and opinions. I'll be honest and say I do not have a strong finance background, perhaps I interview well enough for them to overlook that problem. I am hoping to go into finance/possibly banking in the future. Thoroughly enjoy analyzing data, interest in investments, don't mind facing clients but would prefer not to do it on a day-to-day basis, current pay isn't really a big factor - more interested in prospects and outlook. So my questions are:
1) which job would give me more options in the future 2) which would be a better 'stepping stone' into banking/i-banking 3) what are the career prospects/outlook in the long-run for these positions 4) any other advice, why choose one over another
Appreciate any help I can get, thanks in advance!
is the BBG role the Financial Product Sales And Analytics programme?
Nope, it's in global data
Go with bloomberg. The global data path can lead to many interesting things later on if your brought back full time. Audit / tax at BIG4 will be very monotonous work and without a CPA your not likely to go far in that career track.
