Anyone else seeing more skylight-related leaks lately?
Hey everyone,
At J & F Roofing, we’ve been noticing a bit of a trend lately — more calls related to skylight leaks, especially after heavy rain. In most cases, it’s not the skylight itself that’s the issue, but the flashing or the surrounding roof area that wasn’t sealed properly (or has just aged out).
Curious if others are seeing the same thing? Do you usually recommend full skylight replacement when there’s consistent leaking, or do you stick to resealing and correcting flashing issues unless the unit is clearly damaged?
Also — do you find that skylights installed on metal roofs behave differently compared to tile when it comes to long-term wear and tear?
Would be great to hear how others are approaching this — especially those working with older homes or doing restoration work.
Thanks!
