Anyone familiar with EMC's Finance Training Program (FTP)?

Just looking to see if anyone has been through this program or knows any information about it. I've heard it compared to the same level as GE's FMP.

I currently work at EMC in one of their Hopkinton offices (not 176 which is their global headquarters) while going to school full-time. I am in a technical role at EMC however I major in Finance so the FTP program is something I would be very interested in and would hopefully lead me into EMC's corp dev department in the future. My building is where EMC's GTS (global technical support) group is located so it is entirely tech personnel there, so I don't think I can get much info from my co-workers about the FTP program.

(Before someone tries to go through my previous post and ask how am I working at one of EMC's US offices while being in Shanghai, the answer is I am studying abroad in Shanghai for a year and my manager was willing to allow me to work remotely from Shanghai, since I possess a specific skill set they need)

I am intimately familiar with both EMC's FTP as well as their corporate development department. A few points of clarification and information:

1) It is not on a comparable level to GE's FMP. GE's FMP is the cream of the crop. That said, any financial training program at a Fortune 500 is generally very well respected. 2) The corporate dev group often plucks people from the FTP program after they finish their two years, or in some cases, during. Note that some positions are generally more appealing to the corp dev group. Internal Audit is one that comes to mind... 3) Some of EMC's divisions conduct their own M&A and have business development positions of their own. For example, RSA Securities, which was bought by EMC about 10 years ago, has it's own biz. dev. group.

CB thanks for the reply,

Do you know what typical salary is for FTP and if the rotational assignments are primarily within Hopkinton/MA or all over the place?

Interesting factoid for inquiring minds - two of the people at the ftp generalist second-rounds who former GE interns said they hated it and were looking elsewhere. Would be interested in how to get a position in the corporate/business development divisions because you aren't able to choose your rotation..
