Ares Relationship Management

I have an upcoming first round interview with Ares Relationship Management for a summer 25 internship. This interview is said to be "technical in nature". Can someone please give me guidance as towards what to expect? this interview is only 30 minutes. Should I expect a Case interview? General market questions? or other Technicals? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and tips for your upcoming first-round interview with Ares Relationship Management:

  1. Technical Questions:

    • Expect questions that assess your finance and investment knowledge. This could include defining finance terminology, discussing current world events or market trends, and specific technical questions like calculating WACC or valuing companies.
    • Example questions you might encounter:
      • What’s WACC and how do you calculate it?
      • How would you value an established industrials company vs. a tech start-up? Why?
  2. General Market Questions:

    • Be prepared to discuss current market conditions and trends. This could involve talking about recent mergers and acquisitions, market movements, or economic indicators.
  3. Case Interview:

    • While not explicitly mentioned for Ares Relationship Management, case interviews are common in technical interviews. You might be given a business scenario to analyze and provide recommendations.
    • Example scenario:
      • Analyze a given company/business idea in a set timeframe and give recommendations.
  4. Behavioral Questions:

    • Although your interview is said to be technical, it's always good to be prepared for a few behavioral questions. These might assess your problem-solving abilities and how you handle difficult situations.
    • Example questions:
      • If you know your boss is 100% wrong about something, how would you handle it?
      • Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
  5. Preparation Tips:

    • Review guides to video interviews for companies like J.P. Morgan, UBS, Barclays, and BlackRock as they can provide useful insights into what to expect.
    • Practice recording yourself answering questions to get comfortable with the format and timing.

Good luck with your interview!

hey i had a technical interview before with them for another dept (ignore the title still haven’t changed it) it was a lot of questions you can find online for my interview and there weren’t any brain teasers. very straight forward QA and they’d tell u if ur right or wrong. tho also, for the super day, if you don’t know something just lead them to your answer. and even if u get it wrong, they’ll explain it to you. GL!
