How Do You Guys Go Out to Bars?
I'm looking for an honest assessment of the bar scene: What does your Friday night look like? What do you wear? Where do you go in NYC (include other cities too)? What do you drink? How do you unwind after a crazy week? How do you put the brakes on & separate working hard from 15 vodka Redbull blackouts? Etc. Etc. Just talk about a typical going out night.

I blow uncut 8-balls off a hooker's tits at (insert typical NY club)stuff and so on....Whatever, I just want an interesting discussion. I'm sure this has been done before. So what, I'm new here and want to know how you guys approach this.
I don't live in NYC. @"Dingdong08" gave a good suggestion the other day, the bar at the Mandarin. It was a good call, very pleased.
Would be curious to see what other people suggest.

I'm really not trolling. I don't care if I look like a huge tool, just curious how guys around here spend their weekends and what the NYC nightlife (as you guys know it) is.
Thought it'd be an interesting forum, but I guess some people will just roll their eyes and make a mockery. Whatever, doesn't bother me.

I'll go out right after work on Friday and drink until I blacked out. I'll repeat that on Saturday, but usually drink all day in a pool club first.
Like seriously, you go to a bar with a decent mix of people and throw back and have some fun. There isn't any science when it comes to this.
I have always been a proponent of pre-gaming before the bar, saves you lots of money and is a bonding experience with the boys
For those of us who frankly don't give two shits about going out (did all that in college and got it all out of my system)... do people view you as some sort of pariah? Do I get shunned during promotions and bonus season just because I haven't bonded with my brothers over strippers and shots? I enjoy both, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I prefer a long Saturday evening nap and a hobby or two instead.
I think a lot of people try to cold-start their social skills on a Friday night and wind up having a mediocre time at best. I've found (after receiving some great advice first from a friend, and later from several companies that work in social dynamics) that it's a much better time if you are social all the time. If you're social with everyone--and not just the people that you want to work with, be around, sleep with, whatever--you gain a certain magnetism. Plus, you're more relaxed when you do want to approach a hot girl/guy, the boss, whoever.
I definitely try to talk to just about everyone in the bar. Sometimes I go with friends, sometimes alone. Definitely need to change out of the suit.
And FWIW: I liked the Mandarin but probably won't go back very often. It was a little pricey and the energy was lower than I expected.
