Internal Transfer-- bonus?
A few months back i transferred to a different group at my firm, having started the previous summer. When I got my first bonus in February, my manager made it clear that it was prorated and had I been working for a full year it would have been higher.
How do I approach the upcoming bonus season (assuming I'm still around) with my new boss? Do I ask him to take into account a review from my old boss and have that factor in to the number? Confusing situation, would appreciate any insight into this.
If it's less than expected/he mentions that you didn't get a full bonus then sure, bring it up in a respectful way. If it's what you expected AND should expect, then there's no reason to mention it.
Thanks for the response- do you think it's worth bringing up ahead of time once the year ends (before bonuses are given out)?
Moving Groups inHouse...Bonus? (Originally Posted: 09/23/2010)
I work at a large commodity trading firm similar to Trafi, LD etc...I am moving to a new group before bonus time and was wondering if you loose your bonus even though your moving within the firm. I'm moving from energy risk to energy research. Anyone deal with this situation before?
Not sure about this, but it's usually stipulated in your contract. I know that you generally have to be EMPLOYED at the time the bonus is paid in order to receive it, but I'm not sure how it works when switching groups.
If at all possible, check with your new / former boss and/or the HR dept.
HR sucks they just say its discretionary and up to my boss. Anyone else go thru this?
