Life Insurance Underwriting - exit opportunities

Background: I got a degree in Political Science and Business from a semi target French university and I'm studying a masters in Finance. I worked for 1 year as a business developer for a well known European company in the savings, retirement and investment department (life insurances, unit linked, investment funds, pension funds, reverse mortgages).

Yesterday I got an offer to work as a life insurance underwriter for Allianz , is a temporal 1 year contract so I would have to stop my studies for now but since is temporal I think is worth trying.

The real question: I would like to work as an investment analyst or in equity research , I would even consider investment banking , as a result , I would like to know if some experience as a life insurance underwriter is worth it, is it a good opportunity to learn more about financial markets and investment products?, to be honest I have been searching online but I still not sure what a life insurance underwriter does , for what I know is more risk oriented, and finally, exit opportunities? , can underwriting help me get into investment analysis or even equity research?.

Thank you very much for your help,
