Tech Scene

Are there jobs working for tech companies that pay similarly to finance that don't require you to know how to program? I have been looking around and seeing how awesome it would be to work at Google and Microsoft or Salesforce, but unfortunately I was not a computer science major. Is there a way I can get into the tech world without being a software developer or engineer or anything like that and not reduce my income from what I would be getting by staying in finance?

Also, if anyone knows of a forum similar to this one, but for tech, please let me know. I would love to hear insight from people in the tech community on best companies, jobs, and compensation.

There are a lot of corporate finance roles at blue chip tech companies. Some companies have finance rotation programs for undergrads and MBAs, and I believe a lot of companies hire out of Big 4/Mgmt. Consulting/IBD for business-related roles.

Thanks for the comments. I know every company has finance and treasury divisions. My main question though (I should have been more clear) is similar to Investment_Wanking's...Are those roles treated as BO/looked down upon in a sense? More importantly, what is the compensation like? If anyone has or does work in Tech, I would love to hear an insider's perspective on Tech companies and jobs within. If you have worked in IB/PE as well, I would love to hear your comparison in terms of compensation as well. Thank you

To answer are these roles looked down upon/BO?

I would say at a company like Oracle, the ERP software sales reps are the Top FO guys, some earn over a million a year in commissions. Hard to be considered front office if you’re not directly growing the companies top or bottom line, this can be done in sales, biz dev (partnerships & alliances) or corp dev (M&A). If you’re in FP&A/accounting that’s a different story.

In tech, the highest paid person might be the top sales rep. But the guys who build enormous wealth do it via equity.

The article below states that CFO’s are the highest paid tech workers.
