As for your question about Capital Markets (CM) and Investment Banking (IB), based on the most helpful WSO content, the key difference lies in the focus areas. Capital Markets is more about product knowledge, while Investment Banking is more about industry knowledge.
In terms of hours, it's generally noted that Capital Markets roles start earlier in the day but overall, the hours are shorter than in Investment Banking.
However, when it comes to exit opportunities, Investment Banking seems to have an edge. Capital Markets backgrounds may not be as attractive to traditional exit opportunity recruiters like Private Equity and Hedge Funds.
