Wokeism

How do I survive the ESG wokeism at work? Its starting to affect my deals now that i have to write a memo about the net zero targets and climate reduction measures my client has in place, and then present the deal to a climate commitee for approval. Its a waste of time and alot of clients dont care about environmentalism.

Controversial

Facts. These guys regularly churn out bs synergies, financial assumptions for clients but the additional bs is where he whines and wants to draw the line LOL. Laughable how many snowflakes there are on both sides of the political spectrum. Leave the job if you're so bothered by ESG wokeism, snowflake

Evil Republicans stop throwing MS at me. Election deniers and climate change deniers, Constitution wreckers.

Dawg 95% of your job is a waste of time. Synergies are fake. Your modeling assumptions are wrong. Most of your deals aren't good ideas. 5% of your 100 page pitch decks get read, and then you don't even get the mandate.

Get out of here with this "waste of time" nonsense.

Initially I would say lateral, but the market isn't great right now and I've been having to do ESG work in CIMs over the past year as well (not to the extent of getting approval through a committee...that would be frustrating).

The reality is that so many PE funds' (MM, UMM, MF) investors are starting to care more about it and the PE needs to hit its investment criteria to keep LPs happy / win new funding commitments. A MS MD told me this once and I think it really applies (paraphrasing) - "I don't believe in all the ESG investments that are going on right now and think it's total BS, but you'd be an idiot to not think it's going to impact you as there's so much money being poured into these initiatives that you have to start accepting it"
