2015 PE Recruiting General Questions

Hey guys – just got some general questions about PE recruiting for this year. Brief bg - currently an analyst at a MM bank though not in core city. Planning to reach out to headhunters soon but just got some general questions to start off the bat:

1. When do interviews usually begin for the 2015 jobs? Is it around Feb 2015?
2. When do headhunters reach out or when is best to reach out to headhunters (if you’re not a top group)?
3. Reaching out to headhunters, are you usually pretty brief on your emails saying attached is my CV (and what kind of jobs opps you’re looking for), or do you usually propose for a follow-up call for each and single contact you reach out to?

Thanks for the help guys – am kind of off a beaten path here so would appreciate any advice.

  1. Depends on what type of PE job, MF already went and a good amount of Upper MM funds. There will be some MM funds picking up the process in February, but more likely than not they are one off's.
  2. Well, if you are a third year like your profile reflects, you should have reached out over a year ago. Reach out tomorrow.
  3. Try to get on the phone with them, sell them on your-self, background and why you are a good candidate. They get so many emails, tough to differentiate yourself. Coming from outside of NYC, you should fly in for a day and meet them for coffee in person. If you want a PE gig, you'll do it.... much easier when they have a face on a resume and can speak candidly about meeting you.

Good luck.

Play the long game - give back, help out, mentor - just don't ever forget where you came from. #Bootstrapped

Thanks Eightace and WSO. SBed.

WSO - I know you said it has already past but do you know when did the recruiting process start for Associates starting in summer of 2015?
