Advice for breaking into Private Credit

Hi All,

I’m trying to break into Private Credit and wanted to crowd source some opinions. I have 10 years of professional experience in investment tech (currently a director at an alternative data firm), finishing up a Master’s degree in finance at a reputable school (top 30) with a 3.8 GPA, and am completing an internship as a Private Equity Analyst at a somewhat reputable firm in the city I will be searching for full-time PC roles. I also have a few connections in PC at the VP level that I plan to leverage.

Question - do we think that my professional background + education + internship experience in PE will give me a solid chance of landing a full-time PC role (ideally sr. analyst or associate, but also open to entry analyst level)?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply - biggest thing was self reflection on what i truly want the rest of my career to look like. Realizing i still have about 35 years left in my career, I want to make sure im doing what i really want to do. And thats not what im in currently (tech). Ive always been passionate about finance and after taking my master’s courses, it really reinforced that. I have a competitive background and going after private market deals is something that’s really appealing to me and will motivate me to excel in the space long-term. I also need more challenging/meaningful work to stay engaged and focused throughout the remainder of my career and think PC (or maybe PE eventually) could certainly fulfill that.
