Real advice: It's straightforward, but for any given person, it's not going to happen.

  1. Get good grades and leadership, network at top banks, and ace your interviews

  2. Do well in banking, and then move to a top PE firm

  3. Do well in PE, and go to a top business school

  4. Get a post-MBA role, and work your way up to a senior level role

  5. Develop a winning strategy earning solid returns, and use relationships with LPs to start your own fund

The other people are right. You're way ahead of yourself. But continue to take stock every couple years to see what you want out of life, and if you're interested in pursuing this over time, don't let anyone keep you from shooting your shot.
