I’m a cs major about to start work as a 1st year analyst at a large private markets investment firm (think Harbourvest, StepStone, Hamilton Lane) and have previous internship experience at a L/S value fund. Could anyone give insight on the possibility of moving to a traditional buyside role at a lower MM to MM PE firm or hedge fund after one to two years ? Or would working a year and then trying to get into a reputable IB be a better route?
