Am I crazy or am i underpaid?
have a new grad offer at a pension in private equity for 2026 with base of 95k and bonus of about 40%. no signing no nothing, isnt this really low? i was expecting 160k tc honestly.

Most pensions are going to pay a lot less than a regular PE firm - this doesn't sound unreasonable for a new grad. You will likely be working way less hours than a "normal" IB/PE seat so comp is also lower.
Insurance, AM etc will also be in the same ballpark and at a discount to traditional PE seats.

No. This seems like a solid offer. If you want to make the numbers you quoted you're going to need to go into more traditional IB/PE work at a large firm, but you will be working hella more hours than the guy who takes your seat at the pension.
Personally I would take this, but that is up to you. Most of these firms are not open to negotiating first year analyst comp

Obviously the top 3 pay well. You can only leverage your comp with another offer in hand which if you do, you're leaving a bad taste in their mouth. And the pensions that pay better, work more.
