Anyone here commute to midtown from the NJ suburbs?

Moving from a different city for a VP spot in midtown and choosing not to live in the city for a variety of reasons.  I know a few acquaintances across banking/PE who do this and they recommended towns like Summit and Millburn, but wanted to cast a wider net to see if anyone here did this or had experience with it.  I've commuted via train before in my current geography so it's not a foreign concept to me but was wondering if anyone here had specific insight.  Thanks!

Very doable - depends on where your office is. NJ feeds into Penn which is local to the west side, there's subway options to head to middle of midtown or east side but it adds a layer of transit. Westchester (metro north) and LIRR will feed directly into Grand Central if your office is near there.

Summit is a great town and not too bad of a commute. If I were you I'd fly up for a weekend to visit some towns, maybe transit into the city for dinner to get a feel for it but it's pretty common

Those are great towns, others in the area include Chatham and Madison. They are on the same train line just a little further out. All of them have issues with parking at the train station, so check out boxcar, run by a former wall st guy that offers high speed buses and reserved parking in many commuter towns in north jersey. Also depending on your schedule and how many days in office, you can live in an adjacent town and Uber to the train station, there are a ton of higher end suburbs with good schools within 10mins of a train hub.
