Application Strategy for MF PE

Hi, currently going through some processes for an Associate role after two years in banking and wondering:

1. If I don't get to the next round for a specific firm, will the HH avoid putting me forward for other similar positions in other funds?

2. What happens if I don't get any satisfying job offer this year, would that prevent me from going through the process in a year or two at the same fund? Should I have a specific strategy?

Many thx to all and happy holidays

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you need to know:

  1. If you don't advance to the next round with a specific firm, it doesn't necessarily mean that a headhunter (HH) will avoid putting you forward for other opportunities. Headhunters are motivated to place candidates because that's how they earn their commissions. If you're a strong candidate, they'll likely continue to present you for roles that fit your profile. However, it's important to maintain a good relationship with your headhunter and to get feedback on why you didn't advance, so you can improve for future opportunities.

Remember, each fund has its own unique culture and set of requirements, so just because one didn't move forward doesn't mean others won't see your potential. Keep swinging, champ!
