Private Equity Office wear
Hi, wondering what shirts & pants brands people recommend for office attire for someone working at a PE firm? Ideally, I'm hoping to buy items that I can easily wash and air dry, rather than need to dry clean
Also, do people wear suit jackets or vests often in private equity? If so, any recommendations for either of those? I understand that you can't wash suit jackets, but how do people usually take care of them? Understand that you could have multiple wears for suit jackets.
Sorry if these seem like stupid questions, I come from a blue collar background and this is my first professional full-time job.
I’ll take you at your word and try to be helpful.
For West coast (assuming men), guys often wear dress shirt + vest combo with Lulu pants, though some firms like Vista are much dressier.
Did you happen to notice what your interviewers were wearing when you visited?
Thank you for the thoughtful response. They wore dress shirts & slacks. The only issue with slacks, is that I don't want to have to dry clean them so often
If the ABC pants are close enough (likely yes), I think they can be machine washed or even hand washed to make them last longer. eBay has some better deals compared to full price at the Lulu store.
I would just keep it very simple which is cotton shirt and a wool trouser in a classic fit and dark loafers brown or black. In the summer you can go with a “tropical wool” doesn’t need any more thought than that. If you’re cold just have a navy or gray blazer also in wool and a classic fit. Goes with everything. Blazers esp. in wool can have tons of wear before you need to clean them but you have to dry clean. Brands - for cheap but still decent quality banana, j crew, charles tyrwhitt (shirts), brooks
Thank you so much for these suggestions
It depends on the firm. Just dress up for the first few weeks and adjust accordingly
This - rock a navy suit, white dress shirt, black dress shoes the first week. Observe what everyone else is wearing and adjust accordingly
Thank you, appreciate the thoughtful advice
I absolutely love this troll posts. Well played OP.
This was not a troll post, I was being sincere. I really just want to make a good first impression
