Appropriate to ask for small co-invest?
My firm is getting ready for a follow-on, late stage growth round in a deal that I have been working on. Round is in the $100-$500M range, and my fund is not speaking for the full amount. We have been telling investors minimum ~$500k checks. The investment for investors not at my fund is directly into the company, not a fund vehicle. I believe in the equity story, and see a path towards a short term exit.
Do you think it would be appropriate to ask to co-invest? For reference, I would be comfortable investing ~$10k-$15k in the deal, which is obviously materially lower than what we are telling investors is the minimum. Apologies if this is an amateur question, haven’t had any conversations with people at my fund about doing anything similar. Not sure if it’s bad form.
