You might get some looks assuming you have some other nice characteristics like target school, good GPA, good deal experience. I would not say that you are the target demographic for MFs though. Not saying this is impossible but there are a lot of folks who can be hired out of NY and SF already in good groups (BB/EBs) that folks don't need to look towards Chicago. Additionally, being in Chicago will probably put you at a disadvantage should firms move back to fully in-person interviews rather than the current hybrid model as you are in a different city entirely. 

 

I'm an incoming MM/UMM PE analyst in a non-NYC city. Do you think any firms might be open to zoom interviews?
