Best Industrials MM / UMM PE Firms?
Incoming analyst at an EB in the industrials group interested in MM / UMM PE. What are some of the best performing funds that focus in the industrials sector? Looking for funds in the $3B - $10B range - any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Damn homie, I also got a thing for industrials. Screw SaaS, gimmie those window, door and toilet companies tho. Bump
bbbbb
Not 100% sure on performance but here are some of the players I come across as someone who works in the space: AIP, AEA, AmSec, Jordan Co, Berkshire, Arsenal, Lindsay Goldberg, Nautic, Charlesbank, SK Capital, and Greenbriar
Industrials is too broad. Industrial Services? Chemicals? Packaging? Gov Services? Industrial Tech? Different players for each bucket
Chemicals and A&D?
Does CD&R still count for this range?
Probably a little too large but appreciate the comment
Heard KPS is awesome. Not exclusively, but they do a lot of turnaround work.
At the lower end of that size range, but Arsenal, Littlejohn, and Ridgemont also come to mind.
KPS, Platinum, Lone Star I would throw in at UMM. HIG more MM.
KPS and HIG were on my list already but haven't heard of Platinum or Lone Star much. How would you rank these four firms?
maybe add SVP and WynnChurch
So not all of these are a 3-10bn fund focused on just industrials, but some are part of a bigger fund that does a lot of industrial and competes with funds that size:
Very helpful, thanks. Any insight into Platinum and Lone Star? Haven’t heard of those funds as much.
Platinum is very operationally focused and hands on. Supposedly very sweaty. Also not really sure if I would call them UMM solely based on deal size. Do a lot of large cap deals such as diversey for 4.6B or Ingram for 7.2B.
MDP
Added, thanks
A little smaller than the names mentioned here but Stellex, Monomoy, Middleground, and Trive all do a lot of industrials and have excellent returns.
Added!
Trive is nuts those guys are smart
GTCR
MSCP
Bump on AIP and Ridgemont - have bumped across both and worked with one on a club deal, both very sharp, strong returns and nice people
can you pm me? have a a few questions on the latter here
KPS for sure. Amazing track record, respected team, and I am 100% sure they will keep scaling cleanly.
any idea what KPS's returns are?
They’re public, just search around
Bertram is just below your range in terms of fund size. Came across the industrials team quite a bit while I was in banking and know that they’ve really killed it on a few deals. Under the radar but always thought highly of their seniors. SF based which is tough though
Greenbriar, KPS, AIP, Harvest, Jordan company, one rock, Lindsay Goldberg, Tinicum, Kohlberg
