Best NYC Megafunds

1st year anl at top group at MS / JPM currently prepping for oncycle.

What are people on this board's thoughts on what are the NYC MFs (not necessarily HQ in NYC just offices)? Very eager to stay in NYC given my gf / family but have realized that a lot of good MFs (TPG, Carlyle, LGP, Advent, Bain, Vista) are not in NYC

Not to get all knit-picky but LGP is not a MF and this is no ding on them.

Carlyle, Advent, TPG all have offices in NY (source: my buddy works at Advent and I interviewed with Carlyle's PE group a couple years ago). If we're strictly talking MF other firms that come to mind are (in no particular order): Blackstone, KKR, Warburg Pincus, CVC, Permira, EQT

When that baby pays 350k bonuses to keep people that’s probably why lol. Some people will do anything for cash.

Can you expand on the reputation point? Hasn't the firm always had a reputation of being a sweatshop?

They say how you do some things is how you do all things. In Apollo’s case, they fuck men, women, children, creditors, associates, and each other. So how they do all things is how they do all things.

On the other hand… they do have a very generous seamless policy.
