Best way to learn the ropes of M&A negotiation?

I have a couple of years of experience investing in the public markets. I am now in a recruitment process in a middle market PE shop. The role would involve directly negotiating with the owner-sellers among other things - there will be a mock negotiation session to gauge my skills. I have some basic knowledge of the matter, but what would be the best way (I presume there are some books or maybe speeches online?), to learn how the M&A negotiation is done in the real world? Especially when non-financial owners of the business are concerned.
