BizOps / Corp Strategy / Product Manager Exits from PE?

I’m an associate currently in PE, but realizing that in the long term the WLB isn’t for me. I’m trying to think about next steps, and curious whether anyone here has left for PM / Corporate Strategy / BizOps roles, particularly for tech companies (or knows people who have), and what the transition was like, where you looked for jobs, what pay looks like, etc.

Do tech companies even recruit bankers/pe for these roles? I cant think of good reasons why someone would hire a finance person when they could take a consultant for corp Strat/bizops or engineer/consultant for product. Genuine question since I dont know what recruiting looks like for these roles.

Yeah that makes sense. im ditching finance because of this lol, I get why people like PE but I want to learn how to run a business, not throw money at it

Common landing spots for PE professionals in tech are Biz Ops, Strategic Finance, and Chief of Staff/Special Projects roles. You aren't competitive for anything Product related (PMM or PM) unless you wanna come in as entry level at an early stage start-up.

Thanks for sharing that PDF. This is good info.

As per the OP, I've seen it happen. A lot of ex IB/PE/MBB people I know try to go into operational roles where they manage a P&L (specifically biz ops and product manager). Have seen some great senior level exits for ex-VP/Principals.

Also agree with a statement above that these type of exits are doable via IB and other financial services.
