Blackstone has great brand name and is an overall great firm, but was more curious as to perceptions/public opinion of divisions within blackstone. From what I’ve gathered, the rankings on: 1. Private equity 2. Real estate 3. BAAM 4. SP 5. GSO 6. Tactical Opportunities 7. Infrastructure

Truly unbelievable. Has that loophole been closed, or are they still manufacturing their own defaults and cashing in on the insurance?
I don’t think the loophole has been closed, but GSO drew a lot of heat from regulators because of its size. I read that the guy behind the trades left Blackstone to start his own European credit fund. But yeah, the strategy was nothing short of genius.
Ranking divisions is a completely pointless exercise given they are all completely different investment focuses (i.e. apples to oranges)

Agree with the comment above about attempting to rank different divisions, but since you are, how can you place the likes of BAAM and SP ahead of GSO. Did you prefer their promotional video on YouTube ? Or did you do any research on their respective histories, IRRs or deals?

The work at PE/Tac/Infra/RE isn’t even the same job as BAAM and SP, so ranking these is pointless.
