Boston Growth Equity
What growth equity shops in Boston are regarded as the best to go into out of UG or IB?
Growth is a great space and I’m interested to know who people regard as the T1 shops.

Career Resources
TA (though they aren’t even really a pure growth firm anymore) is probably top. Summit great as well but not known for the best associate experience (lots of other posts here on that).
On the more ventur-y side, have places like General Catalyst, Polaris, Spectrum, etc. Good firms but more on the VC side of things
Then more growth-y MMPE, Cove Hill is probably best of this bucket. Charlesbank has a growth fund too.
Realized I forgot a few-
Silversmith (mentioned below)
PSG - huge name in growth in Boston. New-ish but super active
Great Hill - very impressive fund size growth, do some cool stuff. Hybrid buyout / minority but all on growth-y assets
+1 on Great Hill, spoke to them during recruiting and seem genuinely interesting w good culture (think returns have been pretty good so far too given consistent fund doubling)
Cove Hill? Lol you most not know a lot about Boston growth if you think they’re the best in town
Silversmith is a well regarded MM fund - just raised $1.25B fund 4, with prior fund at $880M.
any idea on associate comp?
Not aware unfortunately - I just know of them second-hand
I heard it’s above that of other similar shops in Boston
Volition, Bain Cap Tech Opps, Guidepost, Wavecrest, Battery Ventures, M33, 424 to name a few more. Lots of different shops in the Boston area
Bain Cap tech opps doesn't seem great tbh
Source?
I would avoid M33 at all costs. Have heard nothing but bad things. I’ve met some people there once as well and not people I would ever want to work for.
Any more detail here?
What's the reputation of Guidepost? I might be getting started on trying to network there but it seems pretty small.
