Boundaries of a PE interview process

Hey guys,

In one of my PE interview processes I've been asked to do a psychometric test (standard), but after the test I was asked to schedule a long conversation with a psychologist to discuss the outcomes of the test. As it turned out - during that conversation I was asked to essentially go through all my background from the very beginning, and I was asked things like date of birth, questions about whereabouts and occupation of my siblings, cousins and parents, details of my childhood. I was also asked about weaknesses, things I am afraid of, etc etc. It frankly felt like a therapy session, but a therapist is a person who has a duty to maintain confidentiality, whereas here it has been shared with my potential employer as a part of a selection process!

Is this a normal / common selection round? Because to me it felt excessively intrusive - frankly I don't know whether even my closest friends know so much private info about me.

You don’t want to work for a shop that has a process like that
