Brookfield Toronto
There seems to be a lot of mixed reviews on Brookfield in terms of culture and compensation. While I know Brookfield as a platform is great with a ton of capital and strong deal pipeline, it would be great if someone with first or second-hand experience working there could chime in on the above. I'm specifically talking about the PE / infrastructure groups. Thanks!
It's a sweatshop. My good friend works there. Be prepared not to leave before 10-11pm each night. All the associates eat dinner together and the first one to leave gets the eye roll from seniors.

No, comp is at or even below street. You're going there for the name and that's it
Canada just doesn't pay well, period. Try and lateral to an Infra shop like Macquarie - they pay well.
Does that also generally apply to brookfield roles in nyc?
No they pay decently, especially the special sits group in NY. Unfortunately Canada is just known to notoriously underpay.
Do you happen to know the ball park figures for associate-level comp? Trying to benchmark against pensions and places like Onex. Would expect it to be somewhere in between.

FWIW Toronto is an incredible city and pretty comparable to Chicago.
finance jobs do not pay in toronto/canada - you need to be a VP2 in investment banking or a principal at Onex to earn > $400K CAD (~$300K USD)
